why

why is it that I don't find it strange to find a white hair (in my head, my little literal readers), but find it extremely odd to find a jet black hair?

why is it that sometimes I can really smell my Meadow Mist Yankee candle tea lights that are on my dresser, and sometimes can't smell them at all?

I was looking today at some photos of me when I was a little chubby bundle of cuteness, and in an album given me by my Grandma Betty, I found a poem that my grandpa wrote for me for my seventh birthday (eep...twenty years ago!). It's in his handwriting too, which makes it even more sweet and precious (he died three years ago):

There is a little girl of a very special kind
As sweet a little girl as you'll probably ever find
She loves to have a lot of fun with book, and pen and toy
Yes that special little girl is named Holly Joy
When she comes down to see us we want her to know
She is very special and we really love her so
She is busy in the morning and busy the whole day through
And she really keeps agoing as there's so much to do
So always keep on smiling and read much from God's Word
And you'll always be happy as you lean upon the Lord.

That's a sweet poem. You need to frame it!

Ooh! I hadn't thought of that!

In other words, you're not surprised to find hair from Dad, but you are surprised to find hair from mom. :oP

Um...yeah, actually the white ones are like the white ones mom gets, not dad.

What a special poem!

Yes...it brought tears to my eyes. He was a giant of a christian and a wonderful grandfather.

Cute pics.

Q1: We expect to go grey or white over time, who has heard of someone going black.
Q2: This is a olefactory response. It is like why sometime we can't smell our deoderant anymore, the nasal responses shut off to it after a while as they become aclimatised. The senses are for alert purposes so when we get used to something it is not a worry :)

Q2....too technical. Sometimes I walk into my room, and the smell is strong, and sometimes it isn't.

The real question is why anyone would want folks to think they're a Yankee, even in their taste in candles! ;)

-A Reb, through and through (of the NWern sort), but one who's glad she's not in the South right now :P

Well, I have yet to find a candle brand to match them. :)

Aw, I'm just teasin'. :) I like candles, and am picky about them, but I don't really buy them that often. How do they compare to PartyLite candles? I've never actually owned any of theirs, but I've heard good things of both.

:) I knew you were.

I forgot about PartyLite! They're both excellent candles...I'd be hard put to choose one over the other.
