She only got a temporary cap to make sure that the abscess drains and heals completely...she had gangrene in there. :P Please keep her in your prayers. The deadening'll wear off soon.

hang in there, kiddo! we'll save you SOME chocolate.
EWWWW! Poor girl!! If she ever has a tooth like that again and she can't get to the dentist immediately, tell her to pack it with clove and olive oil. Honest. I had to make Guy do that once. The clove deadens the pain and the olive oil holds other germies out.
My deep gratitude for all the prayer and kind thoughts and words.
I have never experienced pain like I had last night-- after taking the maximum dosage of 16 ibuprofen in a day, my husband insisted on the ER because the pain was so intense it had penetrated my collarbone and down into my arm. I couldn't lie down because the pressure on my head was intolerable. They gave me hydromorphone (and had me stay to watch my reaction as it has totally wiped some people out) to last until the proceedure, but not until I took the ibuprofen in conjunction with that, was the pain diminished enough to sleep. My Husband has been beyond wonderful. He was a bit upset that I hadn't called him home from work to care for me when the pain really began mounting. He stood alongside me in the ER for nearly 2 hours with my head on his shoulder. When he awakened in the night to find I hadn't slept, he sat up with me, holding me against him worrying that "he couldn't do anything." Yeah right! He beseeched the throne of Grace on my behalf, murmuring over and over, "Lord, Have mercy, Lord Christ, Have mercy". It was after this that the worst of the pain began to receed so that we could sleep. He took time off today so that he could be at the dentist's office with me. He was so marvelous. I want so much to do something wonderful for him! (ideas?) After a double dose of the deadening, the root canal could barely be felt-- but the smell of the decay was just gross! The deadening on top of the hydromorphone and ibuprofen made me just a bit loopy, so I slept when I got home. It has been about 6 hours since the root canal, and I still have not taken anything for pain, except mashed potatoes, which should be standard fare anyhow. God is merciful and kind. His compassion reaches even to the roots of our teeth.
Hooray! Yes! It hurts just a bit still, but this tough ole bird can put up with that. You know, it never did stop me from talking, even though it was agony to do so (besides, how was I supposed to whine and complain properly?)-- I told Tim they'd have to stick me on top of St. Helen's when it was going to blow, or rather, when it was Blowing, to shut me up. :oP Thank you for asking!
